Off and Running

I think every Canadian can admit that first 20 minutes had us guessing a little bit.

As uneasy as the first 20 was, the final 40 was equally comforting.

As expected, the Canadians walked all over the Norwegians on route to an 8-0 victory in the tournament opening game for the host team.

Thought Luongo looked strong when necessary and looks ready to go should Babcock call on him in the next couple games. Brodeur will start on Thursday against the Swiss.

Putting Iginla on the top line with Crosby and Iginla seems like common sense right now. I'm sure Babcock will stick with that trio on Thursday.

GO CANADA GO!

  1. GPC was dead on by saying that Iginla should have been on line with Crosby and Nash !

Iginla got a hat trick, after Babcock decided to unite this trio in 2nd period !!

Good tune- up for Team Canada !!

  2. I'm pretty sure that the majority of Canadians thought Iginla should be playing on that line instead of Bergeron. Bergeron just doesn't have the skill set to play on Canada's top line. However, I think he will be a contributor on the fourth line in a checking role. A playmaker, a power forward and a sniper usually form a pretty good line.

  3. I also still feel strongly that Iginla should have been the captain. I love Crosby but honestly, the leader of "that" team??? I have a question? Who were the on ice officials last night?? I can't find the info anywhere?

  4. Agreed...

Line combos looked pretty good minus the first period.

You cant expect a team to gel as soon as they hit the ice. In fact, I am surprised they looked sooo good in the second. Props to the boys!

I am heading to vancouver tmrrw morning...

Anyone know of a good place to watch the round robin games in Vancouver?

I have tickets for two of the Quarter Finals... both the U.S. and Canada games.

    Thanks!

  5. Iginla's skills are suited on a scoring line, not a checking line. Although he's a power forward, he's not a good checker. Good to see Babcock change the lines.

  6. Iginala and Crosby are both Alternates the Captain is Neidermayer, a gold medalists from 2002 and a multiple Stanley Cup
    winner.

I think i remember hearing that the officials were from the US and Russia (or Germany, sorry can't be much help on their names).

  7. If Crosby was captain, I'd have no problem with it. He's clearly a great leader and our best player by far.
