Roster to be Announced Dec. 30

Steve Yzerman had planned on making the announcement on New Year's Eve but that has been moved up a day.

Yzerman will name his 23 man roster during the World Junior tournament in Saskatoon.

That leaves just three weeks before the final roster will be released.

You would think at this point Yzerman has already made most of his decisions but with injuries always a possibility things could change in the coming weeks.

  4. Hey Sec,

Didn't take you long to find the place!

I think realistically 8 forwards spots are sealed up. (Nash, Crosby, Iginla, Heatley, Thornton, Marleau, Getzlaf and Perry)

I think the back end is pretty much set with the 7th defenceman the only real question mark.(Pronger, Weber, Niedermayer, Boyle, Keith, Bouwmeester)

Three goalies are probably set too. (Brodeur, Luongo, Fleury)

  5. Haha I'm a stalker I guess like "Chirps Ex" on the liveblogs lol.

My fingers are still crossed for Jonny Toews. And Keith played like crap last night (IMHO) so he better step-up if he wants to be a gold medal winning Olympian. He skated well but he dropped the ball (or puck) a few times on the point and you can't have that against world class competition.

I hate to say I told you so BUT during the playoffs last year during one of your liveblogs I said Marty was the guy and you jumped on me saying it's Luongo's turn...oh really???? haha

  6. More than willing to admit I was wrong.

I really thought the Devils were due for a stumble and didn't like what I saw from Brodeur in the playoffs last year.

Brodeur has come back this as strong as ever and looks like the guy.

  7. I'm watching Power Play on the NHL Network and here's what they're projecting:

    Forwards:
    Nash-Crosby-Iginla
    B. Richards-Getzlaf-Perry
    Marleau-Thornton-Heatley
    Smyth-M. Richards-Doan
    Toews as the 13th forward

    Dmen:
    Pronger-Niedermayer
    Keith-Seabrook
    Boyle-Weber
    Doughty as the 7th D

    Goalies - the big 3.

  8. hey chirp in all seriousness is there any chance that fisher is on the team? he has just as many points as guys like Lecavalier, Bergeron, Richards, Carter, and Smyth, and we all know that lecvlier and smyth are going be on the team and at least one if not two of the other three are going to be there as well so why not fisher?

  9. I really believe that Fisher has a shot at making this team.

I'll cover the possibility a little more in depth later this week but there are a few reasons why Fisher could crack this roster.

He can play the wing and centre. Hes good on draws. He's a responsible two way player and he can kill penalties.

Not to mention his terrific start to the season...
